PIERRE RAGUES CONFIRMED FOR 12TH LE MANS 24 HOURS
French racer Pierre Ragues will rack up his 12th participation in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans this summer, having been confirmed as part of an impressively strong Duqueine Engineering LMP2 line-up.
Pierre will join two-time Le Mans winner Romain Dumas and his European Le Mans Series team-mate Nicolas Jamin for the endurance classic that takes place over the weekend of 15-16 June.
Pierre is no stranger to the excitement and spectacle of Le Mans, having raced there on eleven previous occasions. The Caen-born driver took an LMP2 podium in 2008, and again in 2017 when he finished fourth overall.
The Michelin-equipped Oreca 07 will be one of 18 LMP2 cars on the 60-strong grid, offering the sternest and most intense endurance challenge of the season. The 87th running of the event will be preceded by an open test day, as well as the usual fanfare of scrutineering and drivers’ parade that make the Le Mans such an important and memorable part of the international motorsport calendar.
Pierre said: “I am thrilled and delighted to be taking part in the incredible Le Mans 24 Hours together with Duqueine Engineering. It will be my 12th time in total but my first one with the Duqueine team. Last time, I finished fourth overall – and third in LMP2 - so I can’t wait to get back there! We have a very competitive car and a great driver line-up with Romain and Nicolas. I think we have all the ingredients for a strong result. But, this is Le Mans and anything can happen! We have two ELMS races before that – at Paul Ricard and Monza – which will be a very useful preparation for the big one. Thanks to Duqueine for placing their trust in me again this season, to the ACO for granting us a place and to my personal sponsors GroupAuto, Yacco and Ellip6. An epic season just got even better!”
