The 24 Hours of Le Mans entered its final quarter with Pierre Ragues at the wheel of the Alpine A470 following a trouble-free night for the Signatech Alpine Elf team. All three drivers - Pierre, Thomas Laurent and Andre Negrao - enjoyed stints in the cockpit during the dark hours, as the team continued its impressive fightback.

Pierre triple-stinted at the race’s halfway mark, around 2.30am local time, and remained focused on finding competitive performance from the car. In his 13th participation of Le Mans, Pierre knows how to keep a level head during the night-time period and helped the team move up into seventh place in class as he handed over to Thomas with 10:14 remaining.

The Frenchman was back behind the wheel under partly cloudy morning skies, on a mission to gain more places in the #36 car. A faultless double stint saw Pierre move up into the top-ten overall, and sixth in class, as Thomas took over with 5:16 to go.

Pierre said: “We had a solid overnight performance, with no major dramas and all three of us able to get plenty of time in the car. We focused on our mission to regain positions, which we achieved. My morning double stint went well, and we moved up into sixth place in LMP2. It’s not where we wanted to be in this race, but given the time lost on the opening lap due to the water leak, I think we can be pleased with our fightback. There are five/six hours of the race remaining so we have to stay concentrated and see if we can make more progress inside the top-ten overall.”
