Pierre Ragues is ready to make his return to the FIA World Endurance Championship as he joins reigning LMP2 champions Signatech Alpine Elf for the 2019/2020 season, which gets underway at Silverstone next week.

Re-joining the team with which he claimed the European Le Mans Series title in 2013, Pierre will line up in the #36 Alpine A470 Gibson with team-mates Andre Negrao and Thomas Laurent.

The crew completed a range of important work at the pre-season Prologue at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya last month as they prepared for the rigours of an eight-race calendar that culminates with the 24 Hours of Le Mans next June.

The 4 Hours of Silverstone promises to get the new WEC season off to a thrilling start as the iconic 5.891km British circuit puts the new-look line-ups through their paces. As reigning LMP2 champions, all eyes will be on the Signatech Alpine Elf squad as they aim to defend their title honours against a competitive set of rivals.

Of the 31 cars entered into the Silverstone season-opener, eight will compete for glory in the LMP2 category. For Pierre, the weekend will be an extra busy one as he also contests the ELMS four-hour race on Saturday. The additional track time will undoubtedly be a benefit when the WEC wheel-to-wheel action gets underway on Sunday afternoon.

Pierre said: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Signatech Alpine Elf line-up for the 2019/20 FIA WEC season and I can’t wait to go racing again. The level of competition in this series is incredible, so it really is an honour for me to play my part. It will be a busy weekend for me with both WEC and ELMS commitments, but the extra track time will be valuable as we look to start the WEC season in style. I felt quickly comfortable in the Alpine A470 Gibson and with the Michelin tyres during the Prologue. I also get on very well with my team-mates, so I am hopeful we can hit the ground running when first practice begins on Friday.”
