In an action packed weekend at the British Grand Prix, Sparco drivers had plenty to celebrate with McLaren Mercedes driver Jenson Button finishing less than one second off a home podium in his Sparco EXTREMA RS-10 overalls.

 

The British race star was in resplendent form around the Silverstone circuit, translating an excellent third place on the grid into a fine fourth place right on the edge of the top three. His Sparco-wearing team-mate Kevin Magnussen made it two McLaren Mercedes cars in the points, as the Dane claimed seventh spot.

 

Of the two other Sparco-supported F1 teams, Marussia F1 Team had plenty of smiles on Saturday afternoon with their best ever qualifying result, as Jules Bianchi, wearing the EXTREMA RS-10 took 12th spot on the grid. His team-mate Max Chilton qualified just behind in 13th but started further back due to a grid penalty. 

 

Both Marussias finished the British Grand Prix to add to their 2014 race finishes, sandwiching Caterham F1 Team’s Kamui Kobayashi, who was also benefitting from Sparco’s state-of-the-art EXTREMA RS-10 overalls.

 

In GP2 Series, the panel of expert journalists named Briton Jolyon Palmer as winner of the GP2 Award in his home race. The home hero finished in second place in Saturday’s feature race, behind Mitch Evans, who also picked up a number of votes from the panel. But it was the Sparco-wearing DAMS driver who accumulated most plaudits over the entire weekend.

 

Sunday’s sprint race also saw another Sparco driver, Stefano Coletti, stepping onto the Silverstone podium with a fine second place, as Palmer himself, wearing the Superleggera suit, finished in a hard fought fourth place. He continues to lead the GP2 Series with a total of 143 points, 38 ahead of his nearest challenger.
